YouTube Launches Custom Feeds and Mobile Interface Redesign
YouTube is introducing natural-language Custom Feeds and a redesigned mobile navigation bar for users in the United States.
YouTube is redesigning its Home page and mobile interface to give users more control over content discovery. The platform is introducing Custom Feeds, which replace previous topic chips and allow users to generate personalized, updating recommendation streams by describing a topic, mood, or content type in plain text via a new plus icon.
Access to these feeds depends on subscription status: regular users can save up to three Custom Feeds, while YouTube Premium subscribers can save up to eight. These feeds sync across mobile and desktop devices but expire after 30 days of inactivity. The feature is currently rolling out to signed-in English-language users aged 13 and older in the United States who have watch and search histories enabled.
Simultaneously, the platform is implementing a major navigation overhaul for Android and iOS. The Subscriptions section has moved from the bottom navigation bar to the top of the Home tab, reducing the bottom bar to four options: Home, Shorts, Create, and You. The updated top bar now includes direct shortcuts for Live, Music, and Movies & TV, while the side navigation menu has been removed to create a more seamless experience.
