The Government of Japan and the federal government of the United States are negotiating the construction of a new logic semiconductor factory. The project is part of a broader $550 billion investment agreement between the two nations.
Estimated to cost between 2 trillion yen and 3 trillion yen, or approximately $12.85 billion to $19.27 billion, the facility would be operated by the chipmaker GlobalFoundries. The deal focuses specifically on the production of logic semiconductors to strengthen the supply chain between the two allies.
