Whitbread to Close Beefeater and Brewers Fayre Restaurants
Whitbread will close all Beefeater and Brewers Fayre sites by September 10 to refocus as a pure-play hotel business and cut 3,800 jobs.
Whitbread will close all remaining Beefeater and Brewers Fayre restaurant sites across the United Kingdom on September 10, 2026. The move is part of a five-year growth strategy to transform the company into a pure-play hotel business and reduce costs by £250 million.
The restructuring will result in 3,800 job cuts. As part of the shift, the company is selling and leasing back freehold properties, including sites in Bicester and the Oxford South Milton Interchange.
The Beefeater loyalty scheme is ending as a result of the closures. Customers must collect all remaining points by August 24, 2026, and use any converted vouchers by August 31, 2026.
