Lloyds Banking Group Begins Retiring Halifax Brand
Lloyds Banking Group started closing the Halifax banking app on October 5 to consolidate all digital and branch operations under the Lloyds name.
Lloyds Banking Group began closing the Halifax banking app on October 5, 2026, as part of a strategic move to retire the Halifax brand. The transition requires customers to migrate to the Lloyds app to manage their insurance, mortgages, and accounts before the Halifax app officially shuts down on October 31.
Account numbers and sort codes will remain unchanged, ensuring customers do not need to update payment details with pension providers or employers. Beyond the digital shift, the group will rebrand Halifax branches as Lloyds or relocate them to existing Lloyds sites throughout 2027.
Jas Singh, Chief Executive of Consumer Relationships at Lloyds Banking Group, stated that customers will retain the same app design and branch staff while gaining access to the innovation offered to Lloyds customers. The group confirmed that the brand overhaul will not result in any job cuts.
