He has also supported using economic migration as a tool for poverty alleviation. These positions place Palmer to the right of some existing party platforms and have intensified internal tensions within Reform UK between members favoring aggressive spending cuts and those concerned about alienating voters.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has indicated that the pensions triple lock policy is "up for debate." Meanwhile, Labour sources have criticized the appointment, characterizing it as a signal of intent to sell off public services.
