Brookings Institution to Host Panel on Data Center Impacts

The Brookings Institution will host a panel discussion on September 15 through its Center for Technology Innovation to address community concerns regarding data center development. The event aims to examine how these facilities impact both small towns and large cities, with a specific focus on electricity costs, workforce issues, environmental concerns, and opaque land use agreements.

Moderated by Nicol Turner Lee, the discussion will feature experts from the technology and economic development sectors. Abre' Conner of the NAACP will serve as a panelist to provide perspective on environmental and climate justice. The group will explore strategies to empower communities in the decision-making process and identify policies to advance equity in data center deals.
