Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank Welcome Daughter in Lisbon

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank announced the birth of their daughter in Lisbon, Portugal, on August 3, 2026.

Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their third child, a daughter, on Monday, August 3, 2026. The baby was born at 6:20 p.m. at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. The newborn is 15th in line to the British throne and joins the couple's two sons, August and Ernest.

Buckingham Palace issued a formal statement confirming the arrival and noted that King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and other members of the Royal Family were delighted by the news. Princess Eugenie shared a photograph of the child on Instagram, stating she and Brooksbank are "beyond in love with our girlie," though the couple has not yet revealed the daughter's name.

This is the third British royal baby born abroad in a century. While the child qualifies for British citizenship by descent, she does not automatically receive Portuguese citizenship. Under Portuguese laws enacted on May 19, 2026, foreign parents must have five years of legal residency for a child to qualify for birthright citizenship. Because the couple only began spending half the year in Portugal in 2022, the child will require alternative pathways to citizenship, such as completing primary education in the country or naturalization after ten years of legal residency.
