Nigerian Naira Gains Value as Foreign Reserves Rise

The Nigerian naira recovered slightly against the US dollar in the official market as national foreign-exchange reserves climbed to $54.91 billion.

The Central Bank of Nigeria reported a slight recovery for the naira against the US dollar in the official foreign-exchange market on September 30, 2026. The currency traded at N1,330.47 per dollar, marking a gain of N0.86 from the previous day's rate of N1,331.33.

This upward movement reversed a modest decline observed at the start of the week. While the official market saw improvement, the parallel market remained stable with the naira holding at N1,375 per dollar.

The currency's performance coincided with a growth in Nigeria's foreign-exchange reserves, which reached $54.91 billion as of September 28, 2026.
