David Crowley Wins Wisconsin Governor's Race
Democrat David Crowley defeated Republican Tom Tiffany to become the first Black governor in Wisconsin history and the youngest governor in the United States.
Democrat David Crowley, the Milwaukee County Executive, won the Wisconsin gubernatorial election on November 3, 2026, defeating Republican Representative Tom Tiffany. Decision Desk called the race at 10:20 PM Eastern with Crowley leading 54.25% to 45.75%, though other reports indicated Tiffany conceded by 9:30 PM while facing a 7% deficit.
Crowley becomes the first Black person elected governor in Wisconsin history and the youngest governor in the United States. His victory followed a volatile primary in which he briefly dropped out in July before returning after a financial scandal sidelined Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez. Crowley eventually secured the Democratic nomination by defeating democratic socialist Francesca Hong by fewer than 4,000 votes.
During the general election, Crowley tied Tiffany to President Donald Trump, while Tiffany attempted to frame Crowley as a socialist. Crowley's proposed agenda includes spending increases and toll roads. Following the results, Tom Tiffany issued a statement congratulating Crowley and wishing him and his family well, while maintaining that his campaign's focus on lower property taxes and farmland protection remains important for the state.
