Elizabeth Warren Probes Defense Contracts Linked to Trump Family

Senator Elizabeth Warren and several colleagues have requested an investigation into the Department of Defense regarding the awarding of government contracts to companies linked to the sons of President Donald Trump. The inquiry seeks to determine if inside information was used or if contracts were granted to curry favor with the president.

The probe highlights specific financial ties, including Eric Trump's investment in the merger of Israeli drone company XTEND and U.S.-based JFB Construction Holdings. It also examines Donald Trump Jr.'s role on the advisory board of drone maker Unusual Machines, which received approximately $735 million in Department of Defense contracts. Additionally, portfolio companies under 1789 Capital, a venture capital firm affiliated with Donald Trump Jr., including PsiQuantum, Firehawk Aerospace, and Cerebras Systems, secured over $70 million in contracts.

Warren expressed concern that the Department of Defense lacks the necessary processes to ensure that contracts are awarded based on national security and defense requirements rather than the financial interests of the president's family.
