Fujifilm Invests $44 Million to Triple Semiconductor Cleaner Production

Fujifilm Holdings Corp. opened a new fabrication building in Oita, Japan, to triple production of semiconductor cleaners to meet AI data center demand.

Fujifilm Holdings Corp. opened a new fabrication building at its factory in Oita, Japan, to triple the production of post-CMP cleaners used in advanced semiconductor manufacturing. The company invested ¥7 billion ($44 million) in the expansion to resolve supply chain bottlenecks driven by the global growth of AI data centers.

This expansion is part of a broader strategic shift to establish biopharmaceuticals and semiconductor materials as core business pillars. The move aims to offset stagnation in the company's legacy office equipment sector. To accelerate investment in these growth areas, the company is considering spinning off its struggling legacy business unit.

Fujifilm is utilizing AI-driven tools to speed up the development of new chemical formulas. Beyond cleaners, the company intends to expand its supply capabilities into advanced packaging and lithography.
