British Kashmiris Protest Pakistani Violence in Jammu and Kashmir

British Kashmiris staged protests on July 29, 2026, outside Pakistani consulates in Birmingham and Bradford to condemn violence in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). In Birmingham, demonstrators placed footwear outside the consulate and shouted anti-army slogans, demanding an end to human rights violations and killings by Pakistani security forces.

The protests followed reports that the Military of Pakistan opened fire on demonstrators in Rawalakot and Mirpur. These clashes occurred during a march toward Muzaffarabad after talks between the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and government authorities collapsed on Monday. Eyewitnesses reported at least 14 deaths and nearly two dozen injuries during the Monday evening violence.

The JAAC further alleged that the total number of people killed between June 5 and July 28 has risen to 67, although this figure remains independently unverified. The unrest stems from the Government of Pakistan's failure to reach an agreement with the JAAC regarding their demands.
