TikTok USDS Commits $2 Million to Modernize NCMEC CyberTipline

TikTok USDS JV announced two new partnerships on September 22, 2026, aimed at expanding child protection and improving the detection of Child Sexual Abuse Material. The company joined Lantern, a Tech Coalition platform used by 38 other companies to share data signals and uncover abuse patterns.

As part of these efforts, the company expanded its partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children by committing $2 million. This funding is intended to modernize the organization's CyberTipline into an AI-powered infrastructure to accelerate the delivery of reports to law enforcement.

These initiatives follow pressure from Meta Platforms Incorporated, which recently settled a child protection lawsuit for $18 billion and urged TikTok and YouTube to implement teen usage restrictions. While TikTok has not yet agreed to implement time limits for teenagers, these reporting and funding measures align the company with broader industry efforts to enhance child safety.
