Ford Recalls Ranger and Everest Models Over Transmission Failure

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain Ranger bakkies and Everest SUVs sold between July 11, 2018, and February 28, 2020, in South Africa and exported to Botswana, Lesotho, and Eswatini. The recall focuses on vehicles equipped with the 10-speed 10R80 transmission.

The National Consumer Commission stated that a potential failure of the transmission fluid pump gear may reduce hydraulic pressure within the transmission. This flaw can cause the vehicle to lose movement, which increases the risk of accidents while driving.

Ford is urging affected owners to bring their vehicles to authorized dealerships for a free software update. These updates will be applied to the powertrain and transmission control modules to resolve the technical issue.
