Nearly 4 Million Floridians Vote Early for Midterms

Nearly 4 million Florida voters have cast early or mail-in ballots ahead of the November 3 midterm elections, with Republicans holding a slight lead.

Nearly 4 million Floridians have cast ballots via mail or early in-person voting ahead of the midterm election on November 3. Data from the Florida Division of Elections as of Thursday indicates that registered Republicans lead with approximately 1.56 to 1.57 million votes, while Democrats have cast more than 1.51 million. Voters without a political party affiliation have cast over 700,000 ballots.

Voting patterns differ by method, with Republicans leading in early in-person voting and Democrats casting more vote-by-mail ballots. Amid the election cycle, Governor Ron DeSantis is campaigning for the passage of Amendment 3, a proposal to increase homestead property tax exemptions to $250,000 to reduce state revenues.

Local elections are also progressing in Key West, where a runoff for the City Commission District IV seat will be contested between candidates Sarah Compton and Wayne Garcia.
