Deere & Co. Proposes Two-Year Contract Extension to UAW

Deere & Co. offered the United Auto Workers a contract extension until 2029 including wage increases and bonuses to ensure stability amid declining agricultural equipment demand.

Deere & Co. proposed a two-year extension to its collective bargaining agreement with the United Auto Workers, shifting the original October 2027 expiration date to October 31, 2029. The company aims to secure business stability as it faces economic uncertainty and a decline in demand for agricultural equipment.

Under the proposed terms, workers would receive a 4% wage increase in both 2026 and 2027, along with a $3,000 bonus in November 2026. The extension would keep current pension, healthcare, and cost-of-living adjustments unchanged.

The United Auto Workers characterized the offer as "unexpected" and is currently sharing the details with its members for discussion. Both the company and the union have established a deadline of 11:59 p.m. on August 31 to accept the proposal. If no agreement is reached by that time, the parties will proceed to negotiate a new contract upon the original 2027 expiration date.
