OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra, a medium-sized AI model that upgrades the previous GPT-5.6 Terra. The new model balances intelligence and affordability, introducing improved visual reasoning, precise computer use, and more natural writing capabilities.
The company reports that GPT-6.1 Terra is 50 percent cheaper than its predecessor and demonstrates a significant reduction in error rates. Internal benchmarks show that error rates at low reasoning effort dropped from 53.6 percent to 16.7 percent.
Designed for workday tasks, the model can draft proposals, interpret technical drawings, and edit videos. GPT-6.1 Terra is available immediately through ChatGPT Work, Codex, and the OpenAI API.
