Angus Taylor Apologizes for Coalition Failures at CPAC
Liberal leader Angus Taylor admitted to past policy mistakes during CPAC in Brisbane while facing criticism from One Nation leader Pauline Hanson.
Liberal leader Angus Taylor issued a mea culpa for past Coalition failures during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Brisbane on Saturday. Taylor admitted the party made mistakes regarding pandemic spending, immigration levels, and net zero climate targets, though he urged attendees to view the Coalition as the most credible alternative to the current Labor government.
One Nation leader Pauline Hanson criticized Taylor as a "smarmy management consultant" and accused the Coalition and Labor of forming a "uniparty" that has run the country into the ground. Hanson called for a royal commission into net zero decisions, questioning why voters should trust the Liberals to reverse policies they originally signed.
Despite the friction, Hanson stated that One Nation remains willing to cooperate with the Liberals and Nationals to remove Prime Minister Anthony Albanese from power. The event also featured Nationals leader Matt Canavan and moderator Karl Stefanovic, who questioned Taylor on whether the conservative parties were splitting the vote.
