Nano Nuclear Energy Targets AI Power With Microreactors

Nano Nuclear Energy is developing microreactors to meet AI energy demands while remaining pre-revenue and awaiting regulatory approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Nano Nuclear Energy is developing a suite of portable and stationary microreactors, specifically the KRONOS, ZEUS, and LOKI designs, to address the increasing energy requirements of artificial intelligence. The company also intends to produce high-assay low-enriched uranium to support its technology. Operational progress includes ongoing site work for a KRONOS prototype at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and potential interest from BaRupOn for a data center near Houston, Texas.

Despite these developments, the company remains pre-revenue and reported a net loss of $7.6 million for the third quarter. Nano Nuclear Energy has not yet received necessary regulatory approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The company faces significant competition from other firms in the sector, including Oklo, NuScale Power, and Centrus Energy, the latter of which currently holds the only U.S. license to produce the required HALEU fuel.

Financial markets have reacted positively to the company's prospects, with shares rising over 90% in 2025. This growth has pushed the company's market capitalization beyond $2 billion despite the lack of current revenue and pending regulatory hurdles.
