Sainsbury's and Argos Hire 17,500 Seasonal Christmas Staff

Sainsbury's and Argos launched a nationwide recruitment drive on October 5 to hire 17,500 temporary staff across the United Kingdom for the Christmas period. The roles cover supermarkets, convenience stores, warehouses, Argos stores, and online fulfilment operations.

Seasonal employees will be hired on fixed-term contracts lasting between four and 12 weeks. Hourly pay for in-store roles ranges from £13.23 to £14.54, while delivery drivers earn between £14.23 and £16.04. Benefits include free food during shifts and a 10% staff discount at both brands, which increases to 15% for Sainsbury's staff on Fridays and Saturdays.

Most positions require applicants to be over 18 with UK Right to Work eligibility. The recruitment drive occurs as Sainsbury's prepares to sell Argos to Swift Partners, although that transaction has not yet completed.
