Silicon Labs Unveils BG2B Low-Power Bluetooth LE SoC

Silicon Labs announced the BG2B wireless system-on-chip, a low-power Bluetooth LE device featuring advanced channel sounding and high security for IoT applications.

Silicon Labs announced the BG2B, a new Series 2 Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) wireless system-on-chip (SoC) tailored for battery-powered IoT devices. The BG2B is the company's lowest-power Bluetooth LE device to date, utilizing a dual-output DC-DC power architecture and a multi-core design to reduce MCU active current by 14% to 15% over previous models.

The SoC integrates Bluetooth Channel Sounding for enhanced location awareness and Secure Vault High security to ensure PSA Level 3 compliance. To minimize the need for external components, the chip includes integrated peripherals such as dual ADCs, LED drivers, and CAN-FD. These capabilities are designed for a range of use cases, including vehicle diagnostics, industrial monitoring, electronic shelf labels, smart home systems, and asset tracking.

The BG2B is currently available through an early customer engagement program. Silicon Labs expects initial production hardware and modules to be released in 2027.
