Google Gemini App Surpasses 1 Billion Monthly Active Users

Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced that the Gemini app has reached 1 billion monthly active users, marking it as the company's fastest-growing product.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, announced that the Gemini app has surpassed 1 billion monthly active users. This milestone makes Gemini the 14th Google product to reach this scale and the fastest-growing product in the company's history. The growth follows a Q2 2026 earnings report that placed the user base at 950 million.

Gemini now generates more than 150 million images daily, with 63% of users employing the voice feature and over 100 million active users on iOS. Google continues to integrate the AI assistant across Android, Workspace, and Search. However, the company has not yet released its flagship Gemini 3.5 Pro model, which was originally scheduled for June.

This user growth occurs alongside a significant reorganization of Google's AI division. Lead researcher Jeff Dean has departed the company, and Demis Hassabis has stepped back from the day-to-day management of Google DeepMind. Google faces intense competition in the sector from Anthropic, DeepSeek, and OpenAI, the latter of which also recently reported that ChatGPT reached 1 billion users.
