Ademola Adeleke Accuses EFCC of Plotting to Freeze Osun Accounts
Governor Ademola Adeleke claims the EFCC is attempting to freeze state government accounts to paralyze operations before the August 15 governorship election.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of planning to freeze the bank accounts of the state government and its top functionaries. In a statement released by Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment Kolapo Alimi, Adeleke characterized the reported move as "the height of lawlessness" and an abuse of power.
Adeleke asserted that the anti-graft agency lacks the legal authority to freeze state government accounts and argued that there is no legal justification for such a push. He warned that any attempt to freeze these accounts would be intended to paralyze government activities and disrupt essential business before residents vote in the governorship election on August 15.
