Iowa Governor Nominee Rob Sand Rejects Kamala Harris Support

Rob Sand, the Democratic nominee for governor of Iowa, stated Kamala Harris should not run for president again and rejected her campaign support.

Democratic nominee for governor of Iowa Rob Sand stated that Kamala Harris should not run for president again. In an interview with Politico, Sand rejected the possibility of Harris or former president Joe Biden campaigning for him in Iowa, asserting that the party needs "some new leadership."

Sand is attempting to distance himself from national party politics to appeal to independent and Republican voters in an effort to flip the state. He criticized the American two-party system as "fundamentally broken," arguing that neither major party is solving enough problems or deserves special legal privileges that force voters to choose between the lesser of two evils.

This distancing from the national ticket is not isolated to Iowa. In Alaska, Democratic Senate candidate Mary Peltola also distanced herself from Harris by rejecting an unsolicited fundraising email sent by the former vice president on Peltola's behalf.
