Israel Demolishes Palestinian Homes in Hebron and Jerusalem
The Israeli military demolished homes of assailants in Hebron following a deadly clash, while authorities forced a home demolition in Jerusalem over permit disputes.
The Israeli Defense Forces demolished the homes of two terrorists in Hebron on Friday, marking the conclusion of an eight-day counterterrorism operation. The action followed a clash at the Yehuda Junction the previous weekend that left two terrorists and two soldiers from the Aryeh Battalion dead, with three other soldiers lightly wounded. The demolitions were carried out by the Yahalom Unit under the command of the Yehuda Brigade and the 98th Division, and included the removal of monuments glorifying terrorists.
Col. Dotan Malul, Yehuda Brigade Commander, stated that the military would continue counterterrorism activities to prevent Hamas and other elements from operating. In addition to the residential demolitions, the military targeted shops, roads, and factories in the Hebron area and issued a 24-hour demolition notice for a tile showroom owned by the Qawasmi family in Farsh Al-Hawa.
Simultaneously, Israeli authorities in Jerusalem forced Palestinian citizen Jihad Mutawir to demolish his home in the Al-Marwaha neighborhood of Beit Hanina, citing a lack of building permits. The Jerusalem governorate described the move as part of a broader effort to displace Palestinians to expand settlements. In Yatta, Israeli forces seized municipal vehicles in the Shakara area while settlers attempted to block olive harvesting in the Mu’een area.
