Raymond James Upgrades AMD to Strong Buy

Raymond James upgraded Advanced Micro Devices to a strong buy, predicting the company will overtake Intel in the CPU market by 2027.

Raymond James upgraded Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) to a strong buy rating and raised its price target from $565 to $641. Analyst Simon Leopold predicts AMD will overtake Intel in the central processing unit market by 2027, citing the company's datacenter positioning, earnings leverage, and consistent market-share gains.

Recent data from Mercury Research shows AMD's share of the x86 processor market exceeded 30% in the second quarter, while Intel held a 69.7% share. Raymond James forecasts the CPU market will grow to approximately $201 billion by 2030, a trend driven largely by the expansion of agentic AI.

AMD shares rose more than 2% following the upgrade. This movement continues a strong performance for the stock, which has climbed 113% throughout 2026.
