Tesco Invests £20 Million in Bramble Partners Food Fund
Tesco has committed £20 million as the anchor partner for Bramble Partners, a venture capital fund focused on British food system innovation.
Tesco committed £20 million to Bramble Partners, a venture capital fund founded by former government food tsar Henry Dimbleby. The investment establishes the supermarket as the anchor partner for the fund, which launched in early 2024 with a total capital target of £100 million.
Bramble Partners focuses on innovations addressing climate change, healthier eating, and affordability within the British food system. The fund has already invested in a packaging start-up designed to extend produce shelf life and is reportedly nearing a second investment in a health business.
Under the agreement, Tesco will test innovations backed by the fund within its own supply chain. The two organizations will also create a joint innovation board to evaluate future opportunities. CEO Ken Murphy and Henry Dimbleby noted that artificial intelligence, geopolitics, and weight-loss drugs are expected to rapidly reshape food production and consumption over the next decade.
