JK Cement Reports 15.3 Percent Decline in Q1 Net Profit

JK Cement reported a 15.3 percent drop in consolidated net profit to ₹274.62 crore for Q1 FY27 despite a 20.25 percent increase in operational revenue.

JK Cement Ltd reported a 15.3 percent decline in consolidated net profit for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, ending June 30, 2026. Net profit fell to ₹274.62 crore from ₹324.25 crore in the same period the previous year, and down from ₹330.88 crore in the preceding quarter.

Despite the profit contraction, the company saw strong top-line growth. Revenue from operations rose 20.25 percent to ₹4,031.72 crore, while total income, including other income, grew 19.41 percent to ₹4,070.97 crore. These gains were offset by a 25.5 percent increase in total expenses, which reached ₹3,664.82 crore.

The company attributed the decline in profitability to narrowing EBITDA margins, which dropped from 20.5 percent to 16.1 percent. Primary cost pressures included logistics and supply at ₹911.32 crore, power and fuel at ₹672.98 crore, and material sourcing at ₹640.45 crore. Specifically, higher pet coke prices, elevated diesel costs, and increased maintenance expenditures drove the margin compression.

Additionally, JK Cement remains in litigation with the Competition Commission of India over penalties totaling approximately ₹137.82 crore. The company has not made financial provisions for these cases, stating it maintains a strong legal position.
