AMD Leases Core Scientific Data Centers for AI Expansion

Advanced Micro Devices signed a partnership agreement with Core Scientific on July 28, 2026, to significantly expand its AI computing infrastructure. The deal involves a 15-year lease of AI-ready data center capacity located in Texas and Oklahoma, initially starting with 529 megawatts—though some reports state more than 500 megawatts—with a potential expansion limit of 2.5 gigawatts.

Under the terms of the agreement, AMD received warrants to purchase up to 30 million shares of Core Scientific common stock at $23.47 per share. The partnership is expected to generate over $14 billion in revenue for Core Scientific and will support AMD customer deployments beginning in 2027. The two companies will collaborate on the physical design of the infrastructure and the deployment of AMD's specific chips and software.

This agreement marks a strategic shift for Core Scientific as it transitions its business model from Bitcoin mining to supporting high-performance AI computing workloads.
