Republican Kevin Hern Wins Oklahoma U.S. Senate Seat

Republican Kevin Hern won the election Tuesday to represent Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate, defeating Democratic candidate N'Kiyla Jasmine Thomas.

Kevin Hern, a Republican and member of the House of Representatives since 2018, won the election Tuesday to represent Oklahoma in the U.S. Senate. He defeated Democratic candidate N'Kiyla Jasmine Thomas, a nurse and military spouse. The Associated Press declared Hern the winner at 9:36 p.m. EST.

Hern, an ally of President Donald Trump, will fill the seat previously held by Markwayne Mullin. Mullin vacated the position after being confirmed as the Secretary of Homeland Security in March. Following that confirmation, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt appointed energy executive Alan Armstrong to fill the seat on a temporary basis. Armstrong served the interim term but declined to run for a full term in the current election.
