The Election Commission of India appointed 11 nodal officers to oversee the 2027 Manipur assembly elections, which are expected to occur in February or March. The appointments are designed to ensure the smooth conduct of polling across the state's 16 districts.
Specific leadership roles were assigned to manage critical logistics and security. Senior IPS officer Kamei Angam Romanus will lead law and order and the security plan, while IAS officer Hungyo Worshang will oversee excise. Other key assignments include Konsam Binku for election expenditure monitoring and Khumanthem Diana for transport management.
Additional officers were appointed to handle communication plans, computerization, and cyber security. These administrative steps follow a visit to Imphal by senior Election Commission officials last week to assess the state's poll preparedness.
