Google Announces Three New Subsea Cables Across Americas

Google announced the expansion of its subsea cable infrastructure in the Americas through the introduction of three new systems: Alisios, Canoa, and OlaLuz. The Alisios cable will connect Chile, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, while Canoa will link the Dominican Republic with Bermuda, and OlaLuz will connect the Dominican Republic to Florida.

These projects aim to strengthen regional digital integration and support specific national goals. In Panama, the infrastructure supports the Digital Hub Initiative, while in Chile, it aligns with the objective of becoming a regional digital gateway. This expansion builds upon Google's existing support for the Humboldt cable, which connects Chile and Australia.

Chilean Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications Louis de Grange stated the project will strengthen the country's position as a digital leader in Latin America and boost local businesses. President of Panama José Raúl Mulino and President of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader both noted that the partnership advances their respective nations' digital integration efforts.
