Atlanta Gas Prices Stay Above $4 After Tax Suspension
Metro Atlanta gas stations maintain prices over $4 per gallon despite a state tax suspension, prompting consumer protection officials to seek price gouging reports.
Gas prices at several stations in metro Atlanta remain above $4 per gallon following the suspension of Georgia's gas tax. At one Shell station located at the intersection of Peachtree Road and Collier Road, prices reached $4.69 per gallon.
Shawn Conroy of the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division explained that the tax suspension does not prevent stations from raising prices, as various other business factors influence the cost at the pump.
Conroy urged drivers who suspect price gouging to report the activity to officials. He noted that providing specific details, such as the station address and the time of day, is helpful for investigations.
