Unitree Robotics Prices IPO at 9 Billion Dollar Valuation
Unitree Robotics priced its IPO at 150.8 yuan per share to raise 900 million dollars ahead of its Shanghai STAR market debut.
Unitree Robotics, a humanoid robot manufacturer based in Hangzhou, has priced its initial public offering at 150.8 yuan per share. The move raises 900 million dollars and establishes a company valuation of approximately 9 billion dollars. The firm will become the first humanoid robot company to list on Shanghai's STAR market later this month.
The offering experienced record retail demand, with the online tranche oversubscribed more than 5,000 times. However, analysts have raised concerns regarding commercial scalability, noting that current revenue relies heavily on research and education rather than sustainable industrial applications.
The company faces significant geopolitical challenges following a recent U.S. ban on imports of foreign-made humanoid and four-legged robots targeting Chinese technology. Unitree derived 13% of its revenue from the United States last year. Furthermore, the company and other Chinese robotics firms remain dependent on Nvidia Corporation hardware and software, although China maintains strategic leverage through its dominance in rare earth elements used in robot motors.
