AI Causes Over 10,000 Monthly Job Losses in US
Artificial intelligence is displacing more than 10,000 American workers monthly, primarily in professional services, while driving growth in data center construction.
Artificial intelligence is displacing more than 10,000 workers per month in the United States, according to analysts from Pantheon Macroeconomics. The job losses are concentrated in accounting, advertising, office administration, and legal services. Conversely, the construction sector is experiencing growth driven by the rapid development of data centers required to support AI infrastructure.
Financial forecasts suggest a broader transition period for the labor market. Joseph Briggs of Goldman Sachs reports that approximately 9% of workers could face temporary displacement, a figure based on a baseline forecast of a 15% productivity increase resulting from the technology. Briggs noted that current labor market data already shows signs of AI-related hiring headwinds.
These employment shifts coincide with significant volatility in the technology sector. The Nasdaq recently dropped 2.9%, while AI cloud provider CoreWeave saw its value fall by 10.06%.
