Bathla Group Faces Collapse Amid $3.6 Billion Debt
Bathla Group faces total collapse by Friday unless it secures emergency funding after entering voluntary administration with $3.6 billion in debt.
The Bathla Group, a Sydney-based property developer, faces total collapse by the end of the week if it cannot secure emergency funding. The company entered voluntary administration on August 25, 2026, burdened by approximately $3.6 billion in debt.
Administrators from Teneo report a complete lack of cash, which has left some of the 350 head office staff unpaid for eight weeks. The liquidity crisis has also impacted thousands of homebuyers who hold partially completed properties. While Teneo is prioritizing 45 active construction projects intended to yield 2,500 homes, the firm cannot currently refund customer deposits.
The Government of New South Wales rejected a request for a financial lifeline to save the developer. Teneo is now negotiating with other lenders to stabilize operations. A final determination on the company's survival is expected following a meeting with potential creditors this Friday.
