Amazon and Sea Limited Report Divergent 2026 Growth Results
Amazon and Sea Limited reported first-half 2026 results showing contrasting financial impacts from artificial intelligence investments and regional e-commerce growth.
Amazon.com reported 382 billion dollars in net sales for the first half of 2026, marking an 18 percent increase from 2025. This growth was driven primarily by Amazon Web Services, the company's AI-focused cloud division. However, the push into artificial intelligence has strained the company's balance sheet, with 220 billion dollars in pledged capital expenditures for AI development leading to a 7.6 billion dollar free cash flow outflow over the trailing 12 months.
Sea Limited reported a different financial trajectory, with revenue increasing 47 percent year-over-year to 14.9 billion dollars. This growth was fueled by its e-commerce platform Shopee, gaming division Garena, and fintech arm Monee. Unlike Amazon, Sea Limited does not follow an AI-centric strategy, spending approximately 793 million dollars in capital expenditures over the trailing 12 months and maintaining a positive free cash flow of 4.9 billion dollars.
