Petrobras Finds Second Oil Interval at Morpho Well

Petrobras discovered a second oil-bearing interval at the Morpho exploration well in Brazil's Foz do Amazonas Basin, expanding its reach into the Equatorial Margin frontier.

Petrobras identified a second oil-bearing interval at the Morpho exploration well in the Foz do Amazonas Basin. The discovery occurred at the 1-BRSA-1405-APS well, located in block FZA-M-59 offshore Amapá in ultra-deepwater at approximately 2,886 meters.

This find follows an initial hydrocarbon discovery at the same well in August 2026. The company used electrical well logs, rock samples, and fluid samples to identify the new interval. While laboratory analysis of the latest samples is currently ongoing, the company confirmed that the oil from the August discovery is of good quality.

Petrobras plans to complete drilling and evaluate the formations to determine the commercial significance of the finds. The exploration is part of a broader strategic effort to replenish long-term reserves by expanding the company's portfolio beyond pre-salt assets and into the Equatorial Margin frontier.
