Iran Launches Coordinated Attacks on Kuwaiti Energy and Border Sites

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait condemned a series of Iranian strikes targeting national security and energy infrastructure throughout July 2026.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait strongly condemned a series of Iranian attacks on Kuwaiti territory occurring in July 2026. Following an initial strike on July 9, the ministry characterized the actions as a blatant violation of sovereignty and a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council Resolution 2817.

On July 12, Iran launched coordinated strikes targeting national security and energy infrastructure. A hostile drone struck an offshore drilling rig operated by the Kuwait Oil Company in Kuwaiti territorial waters, causing material damage and injuring one worker. Simultaneously, attacks hit three land border posts in northern Kuwait. The Ministry of Defense described these incidents as a treacherous and aggressive attack.

Kuwait asserted that its security and sovereignty are a red line, reserving the right to take all necessary measures for protection. The General Staff of the Kuwait Armed Forces reported that response measures have been initiated, reaffirming the military's readiness to safeguard the country's territory.
