Colombian Mercenaries Support Sudan RSF via Libya and UAE
The United Nations and Conflicts Insights Group report that Colombian mercenaries provided critical military support to the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan.
The United Nations and the Conflicts Insights Group have revealed that Colombian mercenaries provided critical military support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) during the civil war in Sudan. These fighters served as drone pilots and instructors within the 'Desert Wolves' brigade, contributing to the RSF capture of El-Fasher in October 2025.
A UN Panel of Experts on Libya found that the Subul al-Salam Battalion, a unit of General Khalifa Hifter's Libyan National Army, facilitated the movement of these mercenaries, weapons, and fuel across the border from the town of Kufra. These logistics allowed the RSF to advance operations in the Jebel Uweinat border triangle.
Separately, the Conflicts Insights Group identified a network of Colombian mercenaries backed by the United Arab Emirates. While the United Arab Emirates denied providing support to the RSF, the group claims to have proven a direct link between Abu Dhabi and the paramilitary force. This evidence includes device tracking and documentation of training conducted at a military facility in Abu Dhabi.
