Waymo Expands Robotaxi Service to Three New U.S. Cities

Waymo expanded its paid robotaxi service to Denver, San Diego, and Tampa on Tuesday, increasing the total number of U.S. cities where its driverless ride-hail service is available to 14. The company began inviting a subset of app users in these markets to use the service on a rolling basis.

Vehicle deployment varies by city. Waymo will exclusively use the Ojai minivan, developed in collaboration with Zeekr, in San Diego and Denver. In Tampa, the company will initially deploy Jaguar I-Pace vehicles.

The expansion supports a broader strategy by the Alphabet Inc. unit to reach 1 million paid weekly rides across 20 global cities this year. Waymo currently operates a fleet of more than 4,000 vehicles across the United States, facilitating over 500,000 paid trips per week.
