Unilever Sells Welly Bandage Brand to Forward Consumer Partners

Unilever agreed to sell its Welly first-aid brand to private-equity firm Forward Consumer Partners as part of a strategy to divest non-core assets.

Unilever reached an agreement to sell Welly, a brand specializing in colorful adhesive bandages, first-aid kits, and bug-bite relief patches, to the private-equity firm Forward Consumer Partners. The transaction is scheduled for an official announcement on Monday.

The sale aligns with a broader corporate strategy to streamline the company's portfolio by divesting non-core assets to focus on beauty, personal care, and home products. Unilever originally acquired Welly in 2021.

As part of the deal, Welly founder Eric Ryan is expected to return to the company as a board member and strategic adviser. Forward Consumer Partners, founded by former L Catterton partner Matt Leeds, currently manages a portfolio that includes Xochitl tortilla chips and Justin’s peanut butter.
