Baupost Group Increases Amazon Stake to Largest Equity Holding
The Baupost Group increased its holdings in Amazon and Alphabet while establishing new positions in CME Group and Pershing Square Inc.
The Baupost Group, a Boston-based investment firm led by Seth Klarman, disclosed significant portfolio adjustments for the second quarter ending June 30. The firm increased its stake in Amazon.com by 20% to 3.74 million shares, valued at $892 million, making it the firm's largest disclosed equity holding.
Baupost also expanded its technology exposure by increasing its Alphabet Inc. stake by 16% to approximately $490 million. In addition to these increases, the firm established two new positions: a nearly $137 million investment in CME Group and a $13 million position in Pershing Square Inc.
To balance these acquisitions, the firm reduced its position in Restaurant Brands International by more than 16%, bringing its holdings down to roughly 6.75 million shares.
