Subway Unveils Blueprint Format to Double EMEA Store Footprint
Subway is launching the Blueprint restaurant format to nearly double its store footprint across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa over the next five years.
Subway unveiled its Blueprint restaurant format on October 8, 2026, as part of a strategic plan to nearly double its store footprint across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa over the next five years. Following a period of positive sales performance, the company will require all new openings and remodels in these regions to adopt the Blueprint layout starting January 1, 2027.
The new format integrates digital self-order kiosks, order-ready screens, and dedicated collection points. The overhaul expands the menu to include a new breakfast and coffee range, as well as a Grab and Go selection specifically for transport hubs. A key feature of the rollout is the Subway After Dark evening concept, which begins at 6 p.m. and introduces modified lighting, music, and uniforms alongside a menu of hot items including footlong pizzas, mac 'n' cheese, and loaded waffle fries.
Subway is supporting the transition with a Get Your Own Way advertising campaign. The Blueprint concept underwent initial testing in the summer of 2026 within the United Kingdom and the Netherlands before the broader regional announcement.
