Delta Aircraft Clips Air Canada Plane at LAX
Delta Air Lines and Air Canada aircraft collided on a taxiway at Los Angeles International Airport, resulting in no injuries but requiring aircraft repairs.
A Delta Air Lines Airbus A350-900 clipped an Air Canada aircraft on a taxiway at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday morning around 10:30 a.m. Delta Flight 7, carrying 275 passengers and 15 crew members on a departure to Tokyo, struck the horizontal stabilizer of Air Canada Flight AC785 with its left wingtip.
The Air Canada aircraft had arrived from Toronto and was being towed to its gate at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported, though the Air Canada plane was taken out of service for inspection and repairs. Delta apologized to customers for the travel delays caused by the incident.
Los Angeles World Airports confirmed the collision occurred on a taxiway rather than a runway and stated that airport operations continued normally. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the incident.
