S&P 500 Companies Report AI-Driven Margin Growth

S&P 500 companies are seeing measurable profit margin growth from AI adoption across sectors including waste management, logistics, and insurance brokerage.

S&P 500 companies are reporting measurable margin growth driven by the adoption of artificial intelligence tools, easing investor concerns that massive AI spending has failed to yield corporate profits. An analysis by 22V Research LLC found that 25 firms quantified an average margin boost of 150 to 180 basis points.

These gains extend beyond the technology sector. Waste Management Inc. reported that its Smart Truck platform generates over $300 million in annual EBITDA through optimized routing and lower costs. In the logistics sector, CH Robinson Worldwide Inc. noted a 60% productivity gain since 2022. Additionally, insurance broker Willis Towers Watson Plc expects $400 million in cost savings from process automation.

Market strategists suggest this trend supports the fair value of the S&P 500 and explains the recent outperformance of equal-weight and small-cap indexes. The CEO of Equifax noted that AI-associated productivity benefits began appearing in 2026.
