Gaza Death Toll Surpasses 74,000 Amid Continued Israeli Strikes
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports over 74,000 fatalities in the Gaza Strip as Israeli forces continue military operations despite a 2025 ceasefire.
The total death toll in the Gaza Strip from Israeli military actions since October 7, 2023, has surpassed 74,000. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reports 74,393 fatalities and 175,440 injuries, while other medical sources provide slightly lower estimates of 74,377 dead and 175,398 injured. Rescue teams continue to recover bodies from rubble, though many victims remain unreachable.
On October 14, 2026, Israeli forces conducted a series of strikes across the territory. A drone strike on a vehicle in Al-Qarara killed Ahmad Raja Al-Shaer and Basel Nabil Qeshta, while an airstrike on a residential building in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City killed 33-year-old Reem Asaad Awad. Additionally, Saddam Rami Al-Za'anin was killed by gunfire in the Jabalia refugee camp. Other operations included artillery shelling in Rafah and the Bureij refugee camp, as well as incursions east of Deir al-Balah and demolitions in Khan Yunis and east of Gaza City.
These military actions persist despite a ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 11, 2025. The Ministry of Health of Gaza states that violations of this ceasefire have resulted in approximately 1,500 Palestinian deaths. Reports for October 14 vary slightly, with WAFA reporting five deaths since dawn and Anadolu Agency reporting four.
