FAA Awards $1.776 Billion in Airport Infrastructure Grants

The Federal Aviation Administration announced the distribution of $1.776 billion in airport infrastructure grants across 46 states on July 2, 2026. Funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021, the awards represent the fifth and final installment of airport funding for fiscal year 2026. The grants target runway and taxiway rehabilitation, terminal improvements, safety upgrades, and visual guidance lighting.

Major allocations include $88.8 million for Denver International Airport, $74 million for Boise Air Terminal/Gowen Field, and $62.4 million for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. In North Dakota, 11 projects received more than $32 million, with the largest shares going to Bismarck Municipal Airport ($8.8 million) and Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport ($8.6 million). Other Maryland facilities, including Easton and Ocean City Municipal airports, also received funding for pavement and taxiway reconstruction.

Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy linked the investment to the United States' 250th anniversary, describing it as a step toward a "Golden Age of Transportation." FAA Administrator Bryan Bedford stated the agency is prioritizing the efficient issuance of grants to modernize the travel experience for American families.
