Oklahoma Turnpike Authority Approves Systemwide Toll Increases

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority approved systemwide toll increases effective January 5, 2027, to fund the multi-billion dollar ACCESS expansion and improvement project.

The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority approved two toll increases effective January 5, 2027, to fund the Advancing and Connecting Communities and Economies Safely Statewide (ACCESS) project. This 15-year expansion and improvement initiative, now projected to cost approximately $18 billion, includes expanding the Turner Turnpike from Bristow to Oklahoma City to eight lanes.

A systemwide inflationary adjustment will target a 6% increase in overall revenue. For PikePass passenger users, average rates will rise from 7.4 cents to 8 cents per mile, while commercial rates will increase from 25.2 cents to 27.5 cents per mile. As a result, a passenger trip from Oklahoma City to Tulsa will increase from $5.40 to $5.75. The authority also approved a separate 15-cent per trip increase for the Gilcrease Expressway.

To streamline operations, the agency simplified vehicle classifications from five categories to three based on axle count. Officials intend to revisit toll rates every two years to consider further 6% increases to offset inflation. Despite the hike, the authority noted that transponder toll rates will remain among the lowest in the nation.
