Venture Capital Firms Target New AI Consumer Startups
Venture capital firms are aggressively investing in AI-driven consumer startups focusing on vibe coding, dating, social interaction, personal assistants, and entertainment.
Menlo Ventures and other leading venture capital firms are aggressively investing in a new wave of consumer-facing startups designed for the AI era. This strategic shift prioritizes creative agency and genuine human connection over the media-centric models used by previous social media giants.
Investors are targeting five primary categories. These include vibe coding platforms like Wabi and Sekai for creating mini-apps, and AI-driven dating services such as Overtone, Sitch, and Known. Other focus areas include AI personal assistants like Town and Eigen, AI-enhanced entertainment platforms such as Suno and Lore, and social apps like Posh and Corner designed to reduce screen time.
Funding activity includes FirstMark Capital leading a $37 million Series B for Posh and contributing to an $18 million raise for Overtone. Andreessen Horowitz has invested in Wabi, Sekai, Sitch, and Town, while Forerunner Ventures participated in Town's Series A. Premise and Verdict Capital are also backing startups that reimagine these categories through AI integration.
